Safety/EH&S Coordinator

Position Summary
Position Summary: Multifaceted position that encompasses Safety, EH&S, and Administrative functions.
In this hybrid role, you will provide on-site coordination support in areas of Training and Safety. This role will report to the Operations Manager, with a dotted line to the Site EHS Leader. The Coordinator will identify, create, prepare, plan and execute the training required to meet the needs of the business, which can include safety training, technical training, and basic manufacturing skills training. The Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administration of safety programs, participating or leading safety projects, training, reporting, and compliance for the site. It is also required that the incumbent act in an administrative role, as outlined in the Primary Job Functions section below.
Primary Job Functions:
Training Coordination
Actively participate in safety corrective actions that identify training as a need.
Execute and administer Berry safety training programs
Ensure new processes and procedures are effectively communicated and appropriate required documentation obtained.
Partner with the training functions at other sites within the region to maintain consistency and ensure best practices.
Safety & EH&S Coordination
Communicate identified or reported EH&S issues to the Multi Site EH&S Manager, and assist in resolution.
Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health.
Promote and participate in employee safety initiatives/programs. For example fully participate in monitoring and supporting the Frontline Leadership initiative regarding the reporting of near misses and observations (done monthly).
Facilitate compliance efforts, including maintaining and adjusting of site EHS Framework Improvement Plans. Note: The EHS Framework is a strategic plan to drive significant EHS performance, targeting achievement of leading and lagging indicators.
Site Champion of Front Line Leader Training Initiative (Safety)
Coach and mentor site through Front Line Leader Scorecard, Risk Assessment and Workplace Observation training/process. Align with Berry fiscal priorities to improve Berry EH&S performance by engaging Front Line Leaders.
Global Data Center (GDC)
"Power User" of EHS Management Software to facilitate use
Review daily Global Data Center (GDC) entries for correct incident levels. Ensure DART data is being entered correctly (restricted days/lost time days in GDC).
EHS Compliance
Assist Multi Site EH&S Manager with data gathering.
Administration
Organize facility meetings, team "huddles," Communication Meetings, Staff Meetings, Business Reviews (includes preparation and distribution of agendas, meeting minutes, follow up on action items).
Coordinate upcoming plant visits by customers, other Berry personnel, etc. (includes scheduling meeting space, meal planning, etc.)
Manage office supplies.
Manage and track plant credit card spending.
Match incoming expense purchase receipts and enter into JDE.
Process incoming and outgoing mail.
Prepare and ship UPS documents
Assist with travel arrangements.
Provide backup support to Customer Service/Shipping as needed.
Skills
Intermediate level computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint)
Previous AS400-based ERP systems experience preferred
Familiarity with MS Outlook
Advanced understanding of all related systems as they pertain to EH&S report generation and safety metric administration; purchasing and sales order management, and report generation, as well as functional understanding of other departments, e.g., scheduling, shipping, manufacturing, etc.
Ability to make fact based decisions and understand the impact of those decisions on our customers and business.
Ability to push through difficult tasks
Must have the ability to "push back" in difficult situations and "stand ground."
Time management and organizational skills CRITICAL
Ability to multi-task and complete work and projects in timely and accurate manner
Ability to perform function with minimal supervision and oversight
Detail oriented; high degree of accuracy in all aspects of work
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be able to communicate fluently in English (reading and writing)
Appropriate & professional use of email and internet
Team player
Minimal travel may be required
Education and Experience Level
Minimum 2-year degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
